Anchored in the heart of Coastal Mississippi
Gulfport is situated in the middle of the Coastal Mississippi region. With a rich history in the maritime industry with the Port of Gulfport, the city continues to thrive with the Gulfport Harbor, Jones Park and the new addition of the Blue Economy project. As the second-largest city in Mississippi, Gulfport is an economic driver in the state and prides itself in being a leader in positive cultural change and innovative development. The anchor symbolizes not only the location of the city, but the very values which it stands for:
Our Anchor Institutions
Among Gulfport’s many offerings are what we like to call our Anchor Institutions. These are the bread and butter of who we are. The “Hallmark” sites of our beloved city.
Fishbone Alley
This hideaway alley features a plethora of art installations from local artists and a back-view to a few bars and restaurants in Downtown Gulfport.
Mississippi Aquarium
The aquarium is a nonprofit, public aquarium that includes over 200 species of animals and over 50 species of native plants in both indoor and outdoor habitats.
Jones Park
Jones Park is located on roughly 60 acres at the very south end of US 49. The park encompasses the Gulfport Harbor, Barksdale Pavilion, Ship Island Excursions and a children’s park.
