City of Gulfport - Leisure Services Department
This facility is located on 60 acres at the very south end of Highway 49, the center of the City of Gulfport adjacent to the Mississippi State Port. Not only is this park/harbor facility a signature facility for the City of Gulfport but it is the “Front Yard for the State of Mississippi”.
History of Jones Park
During Hurricane Katrina, the City of Gulfport Marina and Jones Park was under 25’ of flood waters. When the water receded, the Marina and Park were unrecognizable and un-usable. The process of rebuilding the facilities has taken seven years and multiple funding sources. This $40 million dollar Marina project was reopened for recreational boat owners in August 2011 and Jones Park reopened to the public in May 2012.
