Civil Service Commission
The purpose of the Commission is to provide a functional, orderly and uniform system for the administration of Civil Service in compliance with the duties of the Commission and the coverage afforded by the Mississippi Civil Service. The Commission is a seven-member board representing each Ward. The Commission is appointed by the Mayor, with each member serving a six-year term.
The Civil Service Commission hears appeals from disciplinary actions, testing and certifying individuals in for competitive service positions, and managing and maintaining civil service records.
The Civil Service meeting is held the second Monday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
